In what could be one of the most anticipated World Cup tournaments ever, France have a lot of stars in their team, but there are still some stars left in the squad that have to be given a chance.
While the French have had some very successful seasons under coach Vincent Labrune, it is the Italians who have been the most impressive at the World Cup.
The Bianconeri have been able to consistently win matches at the highest level, and have even managed to secure a spot in the final.
With a number of the top teams in Europe struggling to find form, this is one of those teams that will be sure to be at the top of the tournament table, regardless of the result.
This season, the Bianconero’s best player, Alexandre Lacazette, is in his third season in the team, and is yet to make a mark in the national side.
His absence means that the likes of Simone Zaza and Simone Zardini are the only other Italians left in France’s squad.
This is a situation that will need to be addressed if the Biancocelesti are to keep their title, but a good start is likely to help them get over the line.
The rest of the squad is filled with experienced players, and while the young talent that is available in the position will need time to adjust, the rest of France’s senior team are also in the mix, and should be ready for anything that comes their way.
Despite the lack of star power, France are the clear favourites to win the World Series, and if they get off to a strong start, the Italians will have a real problem.
More to come.
