Mountain cur dog has jumped off a cliff into a creek, the first case of its kind in Arizona.
The Arizona Department of Fish and Wildlife says the dog was discovered Thursday after it broke loose on a trail between the town of Payson and the Bighorn Basin in Bighorns County.
The dog was found on the edge of a small creek that runs in the area near Bighorned Springs, a popular tourist destination.
The animal is a medium-sized brown/brown pitbull mix.
It is estimated the dog weighs about 70 pounds.
The department says it is not known if the dog has a history of aggressive behavior, or if it has been socialized with other dogs.
The department is seeking the public’s help identifying the owner.
